Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for all entities within the group.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls across the group. Accounting Operations
• Oversee the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS).
• Supervise general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations. Compliance & Audit
• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings (VAT, PAYE, WHT,), regulatory returns, and audit obligations.
• Coordinate both internal and external audits, and implement audit recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting regulations applicable to the retail, fashion, and events industries.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting team across the group.
• Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
• Facilitate regular training and capacity development for finance staff. Cashflow & Treasury Management
• Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and oversee treasury functions.
• Liaise with financial institutions regarding facilities, banking operations, and funding requirements.
• Implement and monitor effective cost control and risk management strategies. Systems & Reporting Tools
• Oversee the implementation and optimal use of accounting and ERP systems across all business units.
• Ensure data integrity and accurate financial analytics for management decision-making.
• Generate regular financial performance reports for senior management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior or group-level role. 
• Proven experience managing accounts in a multi-business environment (preferably retail, fashion, or events).
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems).
• Excellent understanding of tax laws, compliance, and reporting standards.
