Coding is a big deal right now! With a huge surge of interest in learning to code we feel it is very important to make coding accessible and appealing to children worldwide. By starting to code at a younger age it opens your mind to creative ‘problem solving’ thinking and becomes an extension of how you can express yourself. Children can enjoy our lessons that will result in them creating their own playable and sharable games, solving fun puzzles and learning how to code at the same time.
‘Scratch’ is a graphical programming language developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Media Lab and the best part is that it is a long-running online project that helps kids and teens learn how to code for free! Over the course of these lessons we’ll use ‘Scratch’ to create games using interactive stories, animations, music, art and more!
You will then be able to share your creations on the web and become part of the community of ‘Scratchers’ who are often remixing each other’s work and adding new content every day!
‘Scratch’ is an excellent place to begin if you are interested in learning code. Instead of typing lines of text, as you do with traditional coding, you drag coloured blocks and join them together to build programs. So if you’ve always wanted to create your own game or you’ve been thinking of a simple project that you want to develop then this is the course for you.
