We are looking for an experienced qualified accountant who will work as a Senior Accountant in the Accounts Department of a fast-growing medium sized company. The person will be employed by a professional accounting firm that carries out full Accounting and Assurance work on an outsourced basis.

Job Description

The suitable accountant will be able to work on all aspects of financial or management accounting, supervise one or more junior staff, report to two senior levels of accountants, liaise internally with other departments such as Inventory, Sales, HR and Administration, etc.; and relate to third parties such as customers, suppliers, bankers and tax officials.
Responsibilities:
The role of the Senior Accountant will cover many aspects of accounting, assurance, finance and taxation, especially:
Continuous management of financial systems and budgets;
Providing financial information and advice;
Reviewing the company's systems and analysing risk;
Performing tests to check financial information and systems;
Advising clients on tax planning (within current legislation to enable them to minimise their tax liability) and tax issues associated with activities such as business acquisitions and mergers;
Maintaining accounting records and preparing accounts and management information.
Advising clients on business transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, make or buy decisions (corporate finance);
Counselling clients on areas of business improvement, or dealing with insolvency;
Detecting and preventing fraud;
Managing junior colleagues;
Liaising with internal and external auditors and dealing with any financial irregularities as they arise;
Answering queries from customers about their financial transactions;
Producing reports and recommendations following internal audits;
Preparing financial statements, including monthly and annual accounts;
Arranging financial management reports, including financial planning and forecasting;
Advising on tax and treasury issues;
Negotiating terms with suppliers.
