We are an Institute for Research is a not-for-profit organization limited by guarantee. The Institute’s primary mission is to promote positive change through conducting rigorous, high quality evidence-based research, building research capacity and effectively engaging stakeholders with our research findings.
In the next five years, our research will focus on Strengthening Institutions in the public sector, and Leadership. The research will try to uncover how Nigeria got where it is and the processes and conditions for strengthening institutions. Research papers will provide not only insights but also specific policy recommendations for building stronger institutions in Nigeria.
To achieve our goals, we are building partnerships with international faculty (subject matter experts) and institutions not only to conduct the research but very importantly, to build local capacity to carry out rigorous, ethical research. We are also building partnerships with Associations, NGOs, and other bodies who can lobby for change with our research results.
Our Institute is putting together a team of researchers who were trained in the best PhD schools and traditions. We are looking for people who have a passion for research and who would like to see the positive impact of their research on the Nigerian/African environment.
The successful candidate will assist the Institute in designing and conducting research in public policy and governance. Additionally, they will assist in communicating and leveraging the findings of this research to enhance change in both public and private sector organizations. The successful candidate should therefore be able to effectively engage with both academics and practitioners.
Key Job Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the Executive Director in:
Designing and executing high quality, rigorous research projects in line with the Mission of the Institute
Identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds
Building and maintaining research partnerships with related institutes
Expanding the network of Subject Matter Experts with whom the Research Department can collaborate
Writing manuscripts for publication in academic and practitioner journals
Presenting research findings and policy recommendations to stakeholders at conferences
Assisting in capacity building through training and mentoring of Research Assistants, Associates and Collaborators
Carrying out other relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director
The successful candidate must have a passion for high-quality research and belief in the potential of research to change the environment positively. More specifically, they must have a PhD in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related field and must evidence a commitment to activities consistent with the mission of the Institute. The candidate must show evidence of publication in international journals for academics and professionals.
