DESCRIPTION

  • Oversee Schedules and Job Orders are carried out.
  • Ensure Compliance with Safety Practices
  • To ensure full compliance to safety standards at all times in line with Nigerdock policy.
  • To bring to management notice any problems arising with regard to equipment defects, safe operation, manpower and materials delay.
  • To order materials required for each job, to follow up to ensure that the correct material is delivered (Quality/Quantity).
  • To carry out the job in the most cost-effective manner with regard to manpower, equipment, and overtime in order to reduce waste age.
  • To deal with all manner of clients in a polite acceptable manner proactively resolving issues as may be reported both internally and externally.
  • To attend planning/safety meetings and complete daily time sheets on time.
  • To communicate with the workforce in a clear and firm manner to ensure all requirements are understood and carried out in an acceptable manner, with minimal complaint from clients, peer, management or other departments.
  • To ensure that ship managers are kept abreast with regards to work progress and complaints
  • To ensure that all requests for additional work from the client are passed to the ship manager for an additional quotation prior to that work being carried out.
  • To ensure that all Quality tests required is carried out and confirmed acceptable prior to handing over to the next user/department/client.
  • To stop any unsafe work immediately it is identified.
  • To ensure Toolbox talk is observed and WMS is followed in line with HSEQ procedure.
  • To ensure HSEQ checks all home-made lifting gear for periodic inspection, testing and coding.
  • To conduct Periodic Performance Review of Subordinates.
  • Identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of processes and productivity improvement.
  • Presents Reports as may be required.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Complete Trade Test in relevant field
  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of ships (i.e. performance, stability, technical drawings, technical specifications, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ship building materials (quality, grade etc.)
  • Ability to interpret drawings to install and align engine/generator/pump
  • Knowledge of engine/valve/pump/winch overhauling, propeller shaft repair.
  • Knowledge of quality/control procedures
