Job Overview

The Matron has a duty to help create a happy and well-disciplined atmosphere through the orphanage home. The Matron is required to play a key role in the pastoral care of all the children in the Orphanage home on a day-to day basis, with particular responsibility for the physical, social and emotional well-being and presentation of the children in the home. Ensures the operations of the home are within a secure, efficient and organized work environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Matron is responsible for the pastoral care, health and welfare and health education of the orphans at the orphanage home Ensure the children are well turned-out and appropriately dressed. monitoring the behaviour of children and report to management when necessary Create a friendly and happy atmosphere in the home Monitor children’s daily routine (including meal, school attendance , diet to help the children meet expected standard Assess illness, arrange physiotherapy and medical appointments and to accompany children as necessary Transform children’s life by orienting , supporting , coaching and sending them to school Work with domestic staff to ensure a clean and pleasant environment at all times. Write reports, take photos and document activities of the children Counsel guardians / relatives of orphans and inform them of expectations Matron should be familiar with health and safety procedures of the home Any other duty as assigned by management

Requirements

B.Ed. , BA, B.Sc. or HND in any discipline Experience working in an educational, non-profit or medical institution (not less than 10 years ) required Exceptional leadership and time, task, and resource management skills General office administration Working with children out of their home environment Ability to offer a high level of pastoral care to children Emotional resilience High level of integrity and discretion Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements

Salary range -N100, 000-150,000
