Champion the formulation and implementation of Bank-wide strategies and plans in order to achieve maximum returns on investment, minimize the cost of doing business, ensure job satisfaction by employees, promote a positive brand image and ensure business continuity.
Collaborate with the Board to define and articulate the vision and strategic direction for the Microfinance Bank (MFB).
Champion the articulation of strategies and plans required to achieve the vision and strategic business objectives of the MFB.
Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Management team in the execution of their duties.
Ensure clear and unambiguous communication of the overall business objectives and strategic direction to all levels of the Bank.
Ensure the development and implementation of relevant structures (process, people, and systems) to support the achievement of the Bank’s vision, goals and objectives.
Understand market trends, customer needs, competitors and identify business opportunities for the MFB.
Drive the development of annual operating plans, i.e. operational plans and requirements, staffing and budgets that support the Bank’s strategic plan and overall business aspirations.
Oversee the formulation, administration and enforcement of policies to guide proper operational practices, ensuring that the Bank is in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key organizations and investors and champion the formulation of strategic business alliances.
Present the Bank’s performance to relevant stakeholders.
Review periodic reports of key functional areas to ensure that their operations are aligned with the Bank’s objectives.
Review and authorize key expenditures/ transactions in line with approved budget and Manual of Authority.
Champion the development of the Bank’s annual budget and obtain Board approval.
Liaise with the Board of Directors to review and approve annual audit plan.
Prepare and submit periodic management reports to the Board of Directors.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Board of Directors
Qualification, Experience, Skills and Competencies
First degree or its equivalent in any discipline (additional qualification in any business-related discipline will be an advantage).
Minimum of 10 years post-graduation experience, out of which, at least 5 must have been in the financial services industry, and at least 3 at senior management level.
Must have undergone the Microfinance Certification Programme and obtained a Certificate in Microfinance Banking issued by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Very good knowledge of the Nigerian economic environment, including understanding of local regulations regarding Microfinance Banking.
Working knowledge of key functional areas of the business and their fit within the overall objective of the Bank.
Proven track record of establishing strong performance management culture.
Ability to provide inspirational and visible leadership to support collaboration, and empowerment in order to successfully achieve the Bank’s vision and strategic objectives.
