The GIZ Programme “Skills for Youth Employment in Nigeria

(SKYE)” supports the diversification of the economy in Nigeria through the promotion of demand-oriented technical and vocational training and education (TVET). Hereby the project is focusing mainly on the agriculture and construction

(Housing) sector. The strategy of the project is to improve the synergy between measures on the supply side of the job market (vocational qualification) with those of the demand side (e. g.

technology transfer and development, consultation of producer groups and processing companies) in order to enable TVET providers to develop and implement in market and target group-oriented qualification offers.

Responsibilities & tasks:

The Junior Advisor supports the Technical advisor and

Team in:

Supporting the Technical advisor, the team and project partners in all aspects of technical,administration and logistics management of the


Assist in coordinating the projects regional

activities in line with the projects goals and outputs.

Assist in organizing training's, meetings and workshops.

The Junior Advisor carries out tasks in the

following areas:


Technical-Conceptual and Research Task

Reviews the content of studies, reports and

similar papers.

Designing workplan to facilitate activities.

Assist and facilitate works of consultants.

Monitoring of ongoing activities.

Reviews the content of studies, reports and

similar papers. Management Task

Assist the team in all task related to the

management of the project (e.g monitoring and

evaluation, reporting on results and impacts)

Takes minutes of meetings and assist in the

production of reports .

Organises and updates the project

documentation on the filing systems.

Edits and proof reads internal and external documents.

Document relevant experiences, lessons learnt and best practices:

Design/prepare/facilitate knowledge exchange and dissemination events.

Ensure/coordinate the dissemination of

knowledge of products and materials.

Any other task if and when required.

Administrative Task.

Manages incoming and outgoing

correspondence (post, fax, email).

Photocopies, laminates, binds and scans

documents as needed.

Organizes internal and external meetings and

carries out all meeting-related aspects including distribution of invitations, drafting agendas and taking minutes.

Organizes field trips and logistics for GIZ Staff and partners

Assist in preparing monthly/quarterly/annually annual budget and monitoring of deviations

Maintain historical records by filling finance

related documents Inventory management using GIZ onsite asset

software: maintain accurate register of Fixed

Assets and regularly verify existence and condition of these assets.

Vehicle and generator fuel monitoring

(consumption checks)

Financial Tasks:

Ensure compliance with all financial and record keeping requirements of contracts and applicable taxes and other legislative and

regulatory requirements.

Prepares settlement of travel expenses of programme staff

Supports all in-country workshops and regional

workshops when required Handling of bank and cash accounts of

consultants, financial record-keeping, payment of invoices, budgeting for activities, support preparation of financial reports

Any other task as may be assigned..

Required qualifications, competencies and experience:

Formal Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration,

Human Resource Management, Vocational

Education or in a similar area

Basic understanding of (vocational) training and/or

skills development in and for small and medium-sized

enterprises (e.g. understanding of in-company

training and learning, planning and implementation of

vocational training measures, overview of

stakeholders in the field of vocational training)

Proven good working knowledge of ICT technologies

(phone, email, Internet) and computer applications

(e.g. MS Office)

Proven excellent knowledge of the English language,

both oral and written 

Exceptional management, organizational and proofreading skills

Good communication skills

Innovative and possessing a positive attitude to


A good team player who is willing to take on


Desired additional qualifications, competences

and experience Initial experience in Nigerian private sector

and/or public sector institutions

International exposure

Gender mainstreaming and women’s economic
