Job Description

Reports to:
AFOS Country Representative and Monitoring & Evaluation/Compliance Officer.
Project partners and their areas of support include:
  • Microfinance banks for management and organizational development to promote qualitative growth and outreach;
  • Agricultural companies for management and organizational development as well as technical vocational education and training;
  • 30,000 smallholder farmers for empowering their agricultural and business capacity
AFOS right now is improving the internal processes and systems to prepare the
organization for new projects and efficiency in communication with the head office in
Germany and other international AFOS entities.

Terms of Reference/ Job Objectives:
AFOS seeks to hire the services of a qualified IT Specialist to support the above projects
and future additional projects with an entrepreneurial focus.
The IT Specialist will work mainly with Monitoring and Evaluation/Compliance Officer
and they will:
  • Give adequate support to digitalize all AFOS documents on Office 365 cloud computing platform,
  • Organize a documentation system to be used also by the AFOS German Head office and other AFOS international entities,
  • Educate AFOS staff about network security and best practices for computer usage,
  • Evaluate AFOS IT systems to ensure they meet the necessary demands,
  • consult with the network service provider if need be within the contractual period,
  • perform monthly system health checks and submit a duly signed report,
  • perform scheduled whole system backup to external drives which will be stored off-site by the client.
Responsibilities:
Managing the “Information Technology” unit in close collaboration with Monitoring
and Evaluation/Compliance Officer, IT-Service Provider, Country Representative, AFOS
Africa Director and AFOS Head office in Germany.

Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or a
  • related field;
  • At least three (3) years’ work experience in the field of IT;
  • In-depth knowledge of IT and IT management;
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder engagement;
  • Excellent networking and communication skills;
  • Good command of English, both oral and written;
  • Must be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and excellent organizational skills.

  • Data and System Management, IT Security, Social Networking Services;
  • Excellent presentation skills, leadership, the capability to work in teams;
  • Strong training & facilitation skills including familiarity with the training of trainers’ concepts and organizational development;
  • Accountability and drive for results;
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-national environment;
  • Knowledge of website content management;
  • Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view;

Experience and  added advantage:
The candidate should demonstrate and/or have verifiable experience in the following:
  • Creating, configuring and administering document management systems using SharePoint online;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Software and network installations;
  • Back office support;
  • Perform migrations and troubleshooting on systems;
  • People’s management;
  • Working with project teams
