Job Description

  • The Internal Control Manager will oversee compliance and control within the group and further provide proper risk management and internal control processes for the group and its subsidiaries. Leveraging on analysis and assessment tools, the manager will guide the organization towards understanding it’s risk exposure as well as put controls in place to counter threats and mitigate these risks. 

Key responsibilities include

  • Develop group-wide control and compliance standards and ensure day to day compliance across the board;
  • Implement an effective control environment at all levels including the development of compliance and control activities;
  • Manage and develop a comprehensive framework for assessing, identifying, monitoring and minimizing, internal control issues that could interfere with the organization's objectives and goals;
  • Review and appraise the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting and financial controls as well as related compliance procedures;
  • Assist to review and update all control and compliance SOPs for the department and company;
  • Carry out internal control and compliance checks across the group;
  • Assist in managing processes to identify and evaluate risks in various business areas' and coordinate internal control assessments;
  • Manage the implementation of all aspects of the risk function, including implementation of processes, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks;
  • Support management with continuous risk assessment surveys and develop comprehensive policies and procedures;
  • Coordinate internal investigations, plan and implement risk management strategies;
  • Coordinate with other business units to assess for compliance in alignment with regulatory requirements; 
  • Monitor major and critical risk issues and provide relevant reports for management use;
  • Identify training needs for compliance, control, risk management and risk awareness across the group;
  • Perform other duties as required;

Requirements and expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in banking, finance or accounting with at least 8-10 years experience
  • Postgraduate degree such as an MBA or masters is an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of Internal Control and Compliance in Oil & Gas services. Professional Services firm, Finance Management firms and other reputable organizations
  • Experience in banking and audit related functions is necessary for this role;
  • Candidate must be able to work independently amidst stringent timelines and a fast-paced environment; 
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
