Pro-poor Growth and Promotion of Employment in Nigeria (SEDIN) Programme

SEDIN is a development programme that is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Community.

SEDIN aims at improving the employment and income situation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises

(MSME) through four components. The “Access to Finance” component strengthens the supply of financial services and builds the financial capabilities of clients. The “Private Sector Development” component improves access to business services, strengthens entrepreneurial skills and addresses


Responsibilities

Planning, implementing and monitoring SEDIN

interventions in the area of financial education;

Designing and testing approaches for increasing

financial inclusion, e.g. by means of new technologies

and distribution channels;

Designing and testing approaches for delivering tailormade financial services for potential/returning migrants;

Supporting other SEDIN interventions for enhancing

economic opportunities of potential/returning migrants.

Supporting management functions and other tasks.


Tasks

Financial education

Design and plan financial education sub-projects;

Implement (organise the implementation of) and

monitor the implementation of sub-projects;

Cooperate/coordinate with partners and stakeholders;

In cooperation with M&E and communication advisors,

ensure the documentation of the results and impact of

sub-projects as well as the availability of PR and

communication materials.

Innovative financial inclusion approaches

Identify and assess options for increasing financial

inclusion;

Design pilot projects in cooperation with partners;

Organise the implementation of pilot projects;

Cooperate/coordinate with partners and stakeholders;

Support the monitoring and evaluation of pilot projects;

Contribute to preparing communication materials.

Financial services/support for migrants

Conduct target group-specific needs assessment;

Design and plan pilot projects in cooperation with

identified partners;

Implement and monitor pilot projects;

Evaluate the results of the pilot projects;

Economic opportunities for migrants

Support SEDIN’s migration & reintegration component

in managing its interventions;

Support the component in preparing, implementing and

monitoring consultant and trainer assignments;

Support the component in cooperating with

implementation partners and other stakeholders.

Management functions and other tasks

Participate actively in in the overall planning of the

financial sector and the migration component;

Support the management in meeting the programme’s

M&E requirements;

Support the management in meeting the programme’s

communication requirements;

Assume other tasks as requested by management.


Required qualifications,competences and experience:

Formal Education:

Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Social Sciences.

Professional Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in the fields of financial

and business advisory services.

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with

development agencies, development finance institutions

or other organizations.

Professional experience in the field of migration is an

asset.

Other experiences and skills

Ability to work independently and without supervision;

Ability to work in team and to work across borders, with

internal and external stakeholders;

Self-motivated, pro-active approach in identifying and

promoting innovative approaches;

Impeccable presentation, verbal and written

communication skills in English.
