Job Description

Understand the strategic focus of the company on projects, businesses, and management.

Responsible for the planning, executions, monitoring and management of all clients’ projects.

Put in place tactics and operational systems that ensure effectiveness, efficiency, client satisfaction and quality controls in projects’ executions and deliveries.

Be at the forefront in exposing the company to cutting edge technologies, innovations and know-hows that are capable of putting the projects of the company in vantage positions.

Effectively liaise with all external parties, and properly represent the company on all matters that affect the department.

Ensure that the department’s workforce consists of only high and exceptional performers with no tolerance for low performance.

Physically oversee all the drilling works and ensure that the drilling projects are timely completed.

Responsible for day to day operations and maintenance of all the drilling machines.

Provide technical supports on daily drilling operations and be the primary contact for all field drilling issues.

Responsible for developing operational work plans and ensures drilling operators and other personnel always follow safety standards. Ensures and monitors all the drilling machines and make sure that all the required drilling tools, spare parts, chemicals and all safety equipment are always adequately stocked. 

Participate in the preparations of periodic drilling work plans, budgets, project proposals and contract documents.

Provide leadership, mentorship and training to all the subordinates in the department.

Imbibe in the subordinates, corporate culture, work ethics and expectations.

Responsible for the reviews, approvals, controls and retirements of all administrative overheads of the department.

Ensure timely, completely and correctly outputting of all departmental information and intelligence in the right formats to all other authorised parties.

Relieve the managing director of all routine and non-routine tasks relating to the department that distract him from his strategic and visionary responsibilities.

Prepare periodic (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual) reports and budgets for management planning and decision makings.

Issue job descriptions to subordinates in collaborations with the head of personnel and in accordance with the personnel policy.

Notwithstanding the job responsibilities of subordinates within the department, the responsibility for work quality and deliverability resides with the head of the department.

Responsible for the disciplines and conducts of periodic appraisals for subordinates in the department.

Carryout any other jobs as may from time to time be assigned by the managing director.

Requirements:

BSc or HND degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, hydrology, Engineering or related science/engineering discipline. M.Sc. and other professional qualifications are added advantage.

Possess minimum of 8 years hands on experience in engineering project management, borehole drilling with major career successes.

Must have vast trainings in project, people, resources and profit management.

Possess excellent analytics, conceptual thinking, superior reasoning, and sound business judgement required to successfully manage company’s projects and businesses.

Must be astute in strategic, time, quality and satisfaction management.

Possess very admirable leadership and managerial qualities.

Possess the ability to independently carry on the businesses of the company without requiring any oversight.

Must be physically, mentally, emotionally and medically sound and fit for the works.

Must possess very strong negotiation skill, influential attributes, capacity to win people over without bruises and to professionally engage any stakeholders in any kinds of business conversations

while upholding and enhancing the brand image of the company.

Must possess the capacity to develop manpower and lend knowledge to subordinates and others.

Ability to adapt positively to harsh business/management conditions and still maintain a can-do attitude.

Must be very sound in all manners of communications, including writing business reports and presentations.

Must possess high multitasking ability with careful attention to details.

Must be computer literate.
