Job Description

This role supports the Department with input in designing, planning and implementing a variety of employee services & benefits programme; while advising line managers and their employees on the Company’s various HR policies & procedures like Absence, Leave and Performance Management, Grievance Management and Discipline to ensure compliance, clear communication and the prompt resolution or escalation of all employee inquiries and issues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and participate in the establishment, administration and evaluation of Employment
Services programs and services
Participate in the selection and placement of Unit, Department and Company employees, ensuring equal employment opportunities in hiring and promotion
Under direction from the Head of Department, coordinate the Unit’s (Employment Services) activities by scheduling assignments, setting priorities, outlining work methods; directing the work of subordinate staff; plan and adjust Unit staff assignments & tasks according to shifts in the Department or Unit’s requirements
Evaluate and verify Unit employee(s)’ performance through the review of completed work assignments to ensure correctness and timely completion of their output
Interpret various Company HR policies, processes and procedures as well as applicable statutory and regulatory policies & requirements for line management and employees; answer and resolve inquiries and questions regarding same
Assist Line Managers and supervisors to identify appropriate interventions, including staff development and training needs to ensure employee effectiveness and right level of productivity
Ensure proper employee relations and conditions of employment are maintained by interpreting, advising on, intervening and investigating various policy breaches, grievances, disciplinary and other issues between line management and employees when required; working with all involved
to provide appropriate, equitable and peaceful resolutions to such problems
Participate in Department initiatives and activities that have organization-wide impact
Represent the Department on committees, inter-department project teams and other work teams or groups
Act as “first-line” liaison between the Department and various relevant statutory & regulatory bodies and agencies by establishing cordial and effective working relationships with employees, external organizations, government representatives, applicants and the general public
Maintain records, prepare reports and compose correspondence e.g. Offer Letters, Work Contracts or Staff Announcements, related to the Unit and Department’s activities or functions
Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the HR Function or area(s) of responsibility and into the development the Department’s Operations Budget
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department

Education, Qualifications & Experience
Education A good first degree or HND in any subject
Post Graduate Studies A relevant Masters’ degree or possession or current pursuit of a recognized
certification in HRM will be a definite advantage
Previous Experience Minimum 3 years’ of relevant work experience
