Job Description

SHIFT Nigeria is looking for an experienced and passionate UI/UX Designer to help us accomplish our mission and make an impact. SHIFT believes design is a powerful way to convey ideas and engage people. You will lead our efforts to leverage design for the attainment of strategic goals and objectives. To be successful, the Design Lead will be creative, able to develop and manage projects from start to finish.This is a full-time, paid position located in Abuja, Nigeria.


SHIFT is a non partisan organization that builds support for transformative leaders in communities across the nation. Launched in June 2018, we are Nigerians from all over the nation and around the world. We come from diverse religions, ethnicities, and professional backgrounds, such as technology, media, law, consulting, oil & gas, legal, NGOs, and many more.


Develop and create both digital and print design for a wide range of print and online campaigns, publications and advertisingDevelop and create short videos for social media

Ensure consistency in the organization’s corporate and promotional brandCollaborate with teams to communicate visual strategyPresent ideas to management, product development and commercial teamsProduce infographics and other designs for social media platformsGathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineersIllustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemapsDesigning graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgetsDeliver content for site page layouts, email designs, site graphics

Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as neededProvide support across team’s general workflow: production work, file preparation and asset managementDevelop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look likeCreate original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholdersIdentify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedbackAdhere to style standards on fonts, colors and imagesRefresh websites with images and videos as neededManage all design work - training manuals, promotional campaigns, business cards for management, T-shirt logos for promotional merchandise etc.


HTML CSS and UI/UX experience A strong eye for visual compositionEffective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlinesAble to give and receive constructive criticismUnderstanding of production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia designA strong portfolio, exhibiting clean visual design sensibilities Portfolio of design projectsKnowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. and InVision)Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopPositive and professional team playerAbility to work under pressure while still meeting deadlines and objectivesProblem solving, nurturing relationships and juggling simultaneous projects and requestsAble to work with a wide range of individuals within the organization from initial design briefs, to brainstorming ideas through to design and delivery

Highly organized and able to prioritize own work scheduleExperience managing a fast-paced project pipeline and participate in cross-functional workflowKnowledge of web design processes and web content management preferred
