Job Summary

This role is responsible for the identification, development, and exploitation of new business opportunities and revenue streams while optimizing opportunities and revenues from existing businesses. Responsibilities include industry/customer/competitor intelligence gathering, assessment of marketing opportunities and target markets, packaging bids, tender review, generation of leads for possible sales and follow up and completion on sales. The bids & tender officer must be a dynamic communicator, must have excellent written skills, and client-focused individual, with a passion for building successful business relationships.

Job Description

  • Prepare and submit Qualitative Pre-qualification, Technical and Commercial Tenders for the Company.
  • Serve as Company Representative in deliberations.
  • Plan, direct, supervises and control the packaging of bids.
  • Facilitate the preparation and delivery of competitive bids and tenders. 
  • Preparation of negotiation strategies and procurement negotiations as appropriate
  • Provide sound advice on specifications and actively takes the lead negotiating high-value contracts
  • Promote procurement influence, while establishing long-lasting working relationships
  • Participate in prequalification of suppliers as necessary and evaluation of commercial bids
  • Competencies & Qualities:
  • In-depth understanding of the industry, including operations, product and service offerings, players, key trends and growth drivers.
  • Understanding and awareness of critical success factors for operations within the industry.
  • Excellent business acumen i.e. financial and commercial knowledge.
  • Ability to think strategically and approach issues from a holistic perspective
  • Appreciable knowledge of the Nigerian economy
  • Strategic Procurement skills acquired within the oil and gas sector
  • Computer Literate 
  • Knowledge of Supply chain management skills
  • Proven experience in managing vendor relationships, global logistics management

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • A Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
  • An MBA is an added advantage.
  • At least 3-5 years of bids and tenders management or procurement in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Must have an appreciable concern for order, quality, and accuracy.
  • Able to take initiative and demonstrate organizational awareness, leadership, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, flexibility, and organizational commitment.
  • Good influencing and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Costing and Estimation.
  • Must have experience in Oil and Gas/Mining.
  • Have very strong connections and contacts in the Oil and Gas sector
  • Currently working in a similar role
