Job Description

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit international non-governmental organization of young people between 18 and 40 years old. It has members in about 124 countries, and regional or national organizations in most of them. It has consultative status with the Council of Europe, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO. It was founded in St Louis in 1915. It encourages young people to become active citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development, and international co-operation, good-will and understanding. Its members are called JCI Members. 

JCI Nigeria is the first youth organization of its kind in Nigeria and was established March 9, 1957 and is currently having over fifty-six (60) Local Organizations spread across the 36 States of the Federation and a collegiate structure which has members in almost all the Federal Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges in Nigeria. Since its inception, JCI Nigeria Local Organizations and collegiate members have carried out varied projects in the areas of Youth Development, Leadership Training, Empowerment Programs, Health and Community Development Projects in city centers and remote communities across Nigeria. Our current partners include Nippon Foundation, ACT Foundation, Microsoft, NYSC, ACCA, and ANPA.

Position Overview

This position requires strong demonstrated experience in the areas of Administration, Finance, Grants & Sponsorships, as well as a strong knowledge of partnership agreements, funding mechanisms, and requirements.

Manage all aspects of assigned grant portfolio throughout all stages of project development, implementation and closure.  Manage associated timelines and donor reporting requirements for individual grant activities.  Maintain internal trackers, such as the grant status and closing trackers.  Monitor grant portfolio pipeline of financial commitments and disbursements.

Manage strategy objectives/action plan for assigned grant portfolio per the approved work plan. Monitor project progress against the approved project implementation timeline; identify delays and work closely with Program Development Office to ensure projects stay on track.

Travel to project sites for follow up/support on activity implementation, as needed.

Perform other tasks, as assigned.

Conceptual analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis, including familiarity with and experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Preferred Qualifications/Competencies / Skills

  • Graduate degree preferably in humanities, Project Management or Social Work and related fields
  • Strong computer skills and MS Office proficiency 
  • Prior experience with internationally/locally funded projects is highly desirable.
  • Professional and friendly disposition 

Required Experience:

At least 2 years’ experience in finance, administration and grant management in NGO/civil society environment.

About 30% travel across Nigeria.
