Job Description

Job Responsibilities
Assist in the daily accounting activities required to accurately maintain the company’s general ledger and other financial records and schedules.
Provide necessary support for all tax and statutory matters (e.g. income tax, PAYE, pension, VAT. etc.), including the implementation of optimal tax structuring for the company, and accurate preparation of all tax returns and other statutory and regulatory information as required by governing bodies.
Maintaining the financial accounting system, and all accounting processes including daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collection, GL, bank and inventory reconciliation.
Assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
Ensure the effective day to day accounting operations, transaction processes and reconciliations in a timely and qualitative manner.
Assist in implementation and maintenance of appropriate internal control safeguards
Maintain an efficient filing system to make updating and retrieving files easier
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
Prepares reports, monthly payroll journals, weekly creditors/debtors schedules and other key information to Financial Manager and other internal/external stakeholders as directed.
Liaise with external financial services organizations, auditors, regulators, clients and related parties and investors as may be required
Liaise with Finance HQ in the Netherlands with regard to all accounting/finance related issues and concerns
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of financial systems, accounting policies and standards; tax management, cost accounting etc.
Demonstrable knowledge of all Nigerian tax laws
Ability to provide support to all questions coming from Finance HQ
An analytical mindset aimed at improving accounting and administration standards
The ability to develop effective working relationships and partnerships
Strong attention to detail, good analytical skills, problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills required
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work to deadlines and targets can prioritize tasks under pressure.
Experience and Education Required
First degree in Accounting or relevant discipline
At least 4 – 6 years of relevant experience
Previous experience within the energy/power/oil and gas industry is desirable
Certified holder of an accounting qualification preferably /ACA, ACCA or ICAN or currently studying towards one
A good understanding of IFRS reporting regulations and guidelines.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint; web-based and email programs
