Health Policy Plus (HP+) is a USAID-funded five-year project awarded on August 28, 2015. HP+ has a mandate across global, country, and subnational levels to strengthen and advance health policy priorities in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health. It aims to improve the enabling environment for equitable and sustainable health services, supplies, and delivery systems through policy development and implementation, with an emphasis on voluntary, rights-based health programs, and by strengthening in-country partners’ capacity to navigate complex environments for effective policy design, implementation, and financing aligned to their priorities.

 

The USAID funded Health Policy Plus (HP+) project would be supporting Bauchi and Ebonyi State Governments to attain their CPR targets by providing Technical and Financial support in the development of a Costed FP Implementation Plan. This is expected to clarify resource needs and serve as a valuable tool for advocacy and improved funding for Family Planning in the respective States. A CIP details the program activities necessary to meet national goals and the costs associated with the activities, providing clear program-level information on the resources it needs to raise domestically and from partners. A CIP is critical to give direction to a national or state family planning program.

 

To this end, HP+ seeks to hire a consultant who is an expert in document proofreading and editing to perform quality check and pre/post printing review of the developed CIP’s for FP Bauchi and Ebonyi States. Majors expectations from the consultant include:

 

 

Key Responsibilities

The consultant must ensure:

Texts are of appropriate and uniform font

Page numbers and headings are correct

Spelling, grammar and other aspects, such as use of capital letters, are consistent

Chapter headings match the contents table

Photos and illustrations are correctly captioned

The pages as a whole are logically arranged and look pleasing.

 

These tasks are to be done with overall support from the HP+ Nigeria Senior Health Finance Advisor and Knowledge Management Advisor. Note that this assignment is to be completed in 7 days and the error free output will be the basis for payment.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications and skills Required

Mastery of written and verbal English-language including excellent communication skills in spelling, grammar and punctuation

Strong writing skills, ability to synthesize information into a cohesive report/product.

a scrupulous approach to detailed work

the motivation to work on their own, and to meet deadlines

an ability to stay focused throughout the entire CIP document.

good judgement, to gauge which changes are necessary

tact and familiarity with the production process for documents of high importance.

Good interpersonal skills.

In addition, “Public Official” includes any person who performs public functions in any branch of the national, state, local or municipal government of any country or territory or who exercises a public function, by employment or under contract, for any public entity, agency or enterprise of such country or territory, including state owned or controlled enterprises. The definition of “Public Official” also includes any official of a political party or any candidate for political office.
