The FSLO liaison with the Chief Security Coordinator and crew members in all security matters on board the vessel. 


Duties and responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Job Description, equipment and information at sea
  • Implementing and maintaining the Ship Security Plan.
  • Enhance security awareness and vigilance on board vessel.
  • Ensure that the vessel’s crew is properly trained to maintain a high ship security level.
  • Security/operations information gathering, sharing and analysis
  • Meeting deadlines and report lines
  • Clear, accurate and Informative work to the correct destination
  • Ability to control and oversee a crisis situations
  • High level representative with Regulatory Agencies
  • Commitment to the job and achieving successful outcomes
  • Ability to motivate, coach and develop others such as crew and Navy personnel’s on board the vessel.



Problem Solving/Analysis, Communication Proficiency, Ethnical conduct, Customer/ Client Focus, Stress Management/Composure, Thoroughness, Technical Capacity.



  • Must have worked in a Security or Maritime Industry for a minimum of 3-5 years.
  • Basic offshore Safety Induction and Emergency training (BOSIET).
  • Security courses International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS), Ship Security Officer, (SSO) and Security Operations Management (SOM).
  • HND/Degree in any relevant field of study, preferably Security or Maritime related discipline. 
  • Military background (not below the rank of MWO in the Nigerian Navy).
  • First Aid training.
  • Working experience with Government Security Force offshore at sea

Supervisory responsibility

This position manages all employees under security as a sub-unit.
