Job centres have sprung up in 5 new states across Nigeria. The Mastercard Foundation in partnership with Jobberman Nigeria created this avenue as an initiative under the Young Nigeria Works strategy to provide even more opportunities for youth empowerment through placement in jobs.

In 2024, Jobberman Nigeria set out to make access to jobs or candidates even easier across some states in Nigeria. This was done by setting up physical walk-in centres where job seekers could find jobs in their states and employers hiring there could list their vacancies and even meet potential employees for hire.

The first job centres were launched in Bauchi, Kaduna and Katsina. Each state has two job centre locations

Now, these job hubs have been taken to other states; Ogun, Edo, Benue, Oyo and Kano.

Why Open More Job Centres?

The objectives for the job centres have not changed. The goal is to enable local jobseekers find meaningful and dignified jobs in their states even without digital presence and to enable employers in that state list ther vacancies and possibly meet some candidates at the job centres.

You might be wondering why Jobberman Nigeria is opening physical job centres, especially since there’s already a website for job seekers and employers.

One key reason is to boost awareness about Jobberman and its services in the launch states.

These states currently lack the digital infrastructure and visibility needed to connect job seekers with employers.

The job centres are built to support the core goals of this initiative.

Objectives of The Job Centre Initiative

  1. Connect job seekers with suitable employment opportunities.
  2. Provide career guidance and counselling services including CV reviews.
  3. Facilitate the fulfilment of various roles for organisations and individuals.
  4. Support women, youth, graduates, interns, and blue-collar workers in their job search endeavours.
  5. Enhance partnerships with government agencies, private companies, and educational institutions to expand job placement opportunities.

Benefits of Job Centres

  1. Job seekers benefit from easy access to support and guidance in their search for employment, including CV reviews and expert advice. They also get the chance to meet potential employers directly, making it easier to connect with opportunities that match their skills and interests.
  2. For employers, the initiative offers a convenient way to access a pool of qualified candidates and interact with them in person. This streamlines the hiring process and helps fill roles faster, saving both time and resources.
  3. The broader community also gains from this effort, with improved access to information about available jobs within their local areas and states. Ultimately, this contributes to a reduction in unemployment and supports economic growth at the grassroots level
