International Youth Day is an opportunity to acknowledge young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives and to celebrate Jobbermans work in supporting this initiative at every given opportunity.
Youth have the creativity, the potential and the capacity to make change happen – for themselves, for their communities, and the rest of the world. Jobberman works with these young people, day in day out and our commitment to their upliftment has driven us to embark on an ambitious journey to upskill 5 million Nigerian youths and place 3 million of them in dignified working environments within the next 5 years.
Think of it this way – for us to avert the highrise of unemployment in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, we need to create alternate pathways for youths to gain access to dignified work. We can no longer serve as only a link that connects talent to opportunities, we have to upskill these talents to match the opportunities available.
The theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight how the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their upliftment can allow them to become more productive and effective in the society.
We encourage engagement of youth – from relevant training to access to opportunities and follow-up, in their communities through the scaling up of youth-led initiatives. To this end, we also encourage Private and Public sector organizations aimed at empowering young people, fostering and supporting their activities, promoting partnerships, and ensuring their recognition and visibility.
