An NGO seeks qualified candidates to fill this role




  • The Contract and Procurement Officer provides support in
  • Dealing with the GIZ Offices in the ECOWAS member States concerning all questions arising in the area of contracting and procurement (including also the States without any GIZOffice)
  • Identifying relevant problems and issues and assisting in formulating implementation-oriented solutions
  • managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience, and information



The Contract and Procurement Officer performs the following tasks:


B. Tasks

Purchasing, procurement


  • In accordance with GIZ regulations and possibly in consultation with the Country Office, assists with local procurement of materials and equipment, invitations to tender and order processing 
  • Assists with checking invoices for goods, vouchers, payment instructions and complaints
  • Assists with the safe transport of goods to destination
  • Assists with processing claims for damage to goods  documents and files completed order transactions in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules 
  • Assists in processing customs declaration procedures 
  • Participates in the process of vehicle registration
  • Assists in the development of specification for equipment, materials, and services to be purchased 
  • Contracting
  • Collect from the Programme’s components the documentation for contracts to be established
  • Prepare the contract requests
  • Follows up the contract process with the Programme and the Country Office
  • Follows up the settlement of the contract and reconcile/resolve value discrepancies



General tasks


  • Participates in tenders, in concluding service agreements, and in the purchase of materials and equipment, advises the Administrative Manager, and participates in entering into and processing financial agreements 
  • Assists with the organization of administrative and logistics aspects of the Programme’s activities (meetings, workshops et)
  • Liaise with the GIZ offices in the ECOWAS region for contracting issues and procurement
  • Helps organizing distribution of office supplies



Other duties/additional tasks

Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management 


Required qualifications, competencies, and experience


  • University degree in business management with a focus on finance, controlling, purchasing or contract management or similar area (equivalent BA/BSc or MBA)


Professional experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position with international organizations  


Other knowledge, additional competences


  • Outstanding working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (eg MS Office)
  • Fluent in English and French  (knowledge of German and/or Portuguese language will be an added advantage)
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed
  • Willingness to travel inside and outside Nigeria

Duty station: Abuja
