Role Purpose

The General Manager is responsible for the operations and profitability of the company and also of all departments. The General Manager will oversee the staffing of the company, hiring and training new employees; setting sales and goals under the direction of the Executive Directors and be responsible for finding and executing financing arrangements to enhance the objectives of the company. The candidate should be well organized and demonstrate excellent customer service, public relations, strong leadership and communication, negotiation, and a good understanding of the GIS market. A track record of proven performance is most important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Policy Development
  • Responsible for the formulation of business strategy or plan for the company.
  • Develop policies, operating standards and procedures and other support systems, including monitoring mechanisms in managing all the company function.
  • Provide financial management support for the Annual Operating and Financial Strategic Plans.
  • Review or re-design financial planning models and standards in managing the company’s operating departments or cost centres.
  • Establish short and medium term corporate objectives and work plans, in consultation with the department heads.
  • Responsible for the company’s risk and compliance management, ensuring that the annual obligations of the company are met.
  • Sales Growth, Sales Opportunities and Sales Target
  • Specify a policy including strategic plan for Sales & Marketing management 
  • Develop and adjust sales & marketing strategies to qualify for market trend, competitors and customers
  • Responsible for Marketing and Sales and works through Marketing and Sales Managers to achieve top line market share and achieve revenue objectives
  • Manage Sale and push sale team forward to the company goal
  • Build up company's reputation through marketing channel, public relation, media, CSR activities etc.
  • Build up sale knowledge management to be up-to-date and always satisfy with customer's need
  • Be a backbone of the company to consult and suggest the way to solve sales challenges and report directly to Executive Director.
  • Financing Arrangement Budget and/or Preparation and Control
  • Lead in the preparation of company’s Annual Budget and financing options for review and approval by Directors for management implementation.
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures for analysing budgetary performance to help monitoring and control of company’s budget.
  • Contribute towards the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls

 

Payment Processing and Monitoring

  • Direct, monitor and approve payment of invoices, claims, advances, wages, salaries etc. consistent with laid down policies
  • Manage the relationship with the relevant authorities concerning statutory deductions and payments
  • Monitor the General/Cash Ledger and ensure that all unusual transactions and exceptional balances are investigated and cleared
  • Monitor company’s financial performance and identify favourable and unfavourable trends in performance, exposure to risks, management of risk and ways of improving profitability

 

Investment and Cash Management

  • Monitor cash resources and working capital and provide effective management of short term investments, cash deposit and receivables.
  • Manage the relationship with the relevant authorities concerning statutory deductions and payments
  • Monitor the General/Cash Ledger and ensure that all unusual transactions and exceptional balances are investigated and cleared
  • Monitor company’s financial performance and identify favourable and unfavourable trends in performance, exposure to risks, management of risk and ways of improving profitability

 

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Establish and maintain good working relationships with partners, external auditors, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders.

 

Information and Reporting

  • Ensure maintenance of all necessary records of financial and non-financial data to facilitate qualitative and quantitative analysis to support management decision-making
  • Ensure maintenance of all necessary records of sales prospects, sales opportunities and sales targets analysis are accurately and timely reported to support management decision-making
  • Monitor to ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory reports and return Internal Revenue Service, SSNIT, External Auditors and other regulatory bodies.
  • Lead in reporting of management information for the purpose of measuring the performance of business operations.
  • Administers and maintains GIS Division hardware and software with Information System support.
  • Administers/manages the GIS Data maintenance, conversion, creation, development, dispersion and acquisition.
  • Updates Department Heads Committee and Riley County Commissioners on GIS related issues.
  • Attends and represents Riley County GIS at various professional conferences, industry seminar events, and organizational workgroups.
  • Coordinates GIS software updates and new GIS software purchases for Riley County departments.
  • Supervises day to day technical support for countywide GIS activity.

 

Employee Performance and Development

  • Conduct performance appraisal and provide input for career development and recommend performance incentives for staff.
  • Hold direct reports accountable for managing their assignments to ensure the company’s goal are achieved.
  • Identify training needs and facilitates training for subordinates

 

Key Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either Master in Business Administration with three to five years of post-qualification experience in a General Manager position.
  • Must be able to create strategic integrated programs that leads through the pipeline.
  • Must be able to analyse and control departmental expenditures to ensure sustainable profitability
  • Must be able to motivate employees to create and maintain high moral.
  • Must have the ability to interface effectively with senior management.
  • Must have top sales prospects abilities with proven sales track records
  • Must have strong influencing, negotiating and consensus-building skills.
  • Must have the ability to build, manage, and influence virtual teams.
  • Must possesses strong project and budget management skills.
  • Must be able to adapt in fast-paced work environment.
  • Must possesses prior experience in the software industry
  • Must be able to stay abreast of the industry trends
  • Must have a good knowledge in Esri and GIS.
