The Programme Officer (M&E) will be providing support in monitoring and evaluating ongoing projects in 6 states in Nigeria. S/he will be responsible for the overall M&E and learning needs of the projects and will come up with findings based on real data to show performance of the projects. S/he will manage all the processes of the surveys and write and present reports to partners.


Core Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and research support to home and field office operations
  • Supervise regular data collection and ensure quality of the data by random verifications and validations
  • Clean, analyze and present data on baseline surveys, midterm reviews and impact evaluations
  • Record, manage and preserve M&E data in a safe and accessible way
  • Provide technical support on M&E and evidence-based recommendations to management
  • Supervise conduct of baseline surveys, including training and management of field staff, data collection and data entry.
  • Participate actively in programme planning process and budgeting
  • Analyze data and prepare all study reports
  • Develop fact sheets on specified topics
  • Write and edit reports and other documents
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to project teams
  • Undertake regular updates of the organization’s websites
  • Travel regularly to project regions to review and manage project activities and field staff
  • Undertake correspondence with associate consultants, field staff and partners
  • Undertake other tasks as determined by the Director


Specific Requirements and Skills

  • A university degree (a Master’s degree is an advantage)
  • 3-5 years’ experience (including in M&E) in a development organization, working on a development project or in an NGO
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent knowledge of SPSS
  • Understanding of the history, theory and practice of development
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills
