Technical Support (IT) Intern

Job Description:

  • To provide a high level of technical support to all company staff;

  • To provide desktop support and general configuration of software;  

  • To provide network support and general configuration;

  • Overseeing the installation and maintenance of network printers;

  • To perform low level administrative duties (i.e. Domain Renewals \\ SSL Certificate Renewals);

  • To perform medium level operational duties (i.e. File Backups \\ Licensing);

  • Monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and networks within the organisation in a technical support role;

  • Managing user accounts in Windows, UNIX, and business systems,  forgotten passwords, viruses or email issues,  to also include rights and groups assignments;

  • Ensure that all internal IT helpdesk requests are actioned  Achieve KPI’s for IT/Helpdesk outputs  Assist with the testing of internal applications and projects;

  • As technical support, you may also be known as a helpdesk operator, technician or maintenance engineer;

  • You would also work for software or equipment suppliers providing after-sales support or companies that specialise in providing IT maintenance and support;

  • Alternatively you may work in-house, supporting the rest of the business with their ongoing IT requirements.


Qualification and Requirements:

  • Experience of customer orientated environment;
  • Bsc / Hnd in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent;
  • Proven working experience in enterprise technical support;
  • Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required with a heavy emphasis on troubleshooting Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of VoIP technologies;
  • Knowledge of Windows, XP, Vista and general desktop support issues;
  • Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP and other networking concepts
