Job Purpose/ Key Objectives:

  • The Deputy Finance Manager will coordinate the Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system works and ensure seamlessly operation.
  • The job holder will ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements including tax filing and remittance and manage relationship with Tax authorities, External auditors and Joint venture partners.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure seamless operation of the financial accounting system.
  • Support the Financial Controller in ensuring the successful implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for the organization.
  • Support the Financial Controller in developing a suitable management reporting framework for the organization.
  • Develop procedural manuals for all finance and procurement processes.
  • Ensure prompt preparation of the financial statements in accordance with International Financial reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements including tax filing and remittance.
  • Manage relationship with tax authorities, external auditors and joint venture partners.
  • Manage budgeting and financial planning process for the organization.
  • Interface with other departments to finalize the annual work program.
  • Ensure seamless implementation and operation of the Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Manage all statutory financial and tax audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial close.
  • Generate monthly reports for both internal and external use.
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the data held in the organization financial database.
  • Ensure regular review and improvement of the financial accounting and bookkeeping practices within the organization.
  • Efficient management of the Company’s charts of accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate management reports as may be required by Management.
  • Champion the implementation and deployment of Enterprise Asset Management module (EAM).
  • Coach and mentor other employees on the use of the ERP system and Fixed Asset system – EAM.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Educational Requirement:


o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.

o Professional certification in Accounting would be added advantage (i.e. ICAN, ACCA, CFA).

o Certification in Information Systems governance and control e.g. CISA or any other similar qualification will be an added advantage.



o Minimum of 8 years’ experience out of which at least 4 should have been in an indigenous Oil & Gas company.

o Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

o Big four audit experience will be an added advantage.

o Chartered accountant with minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

o Experience in implementation and operation of INFOR Sun Accounting System in an oil and gas environment, highly desirable.

o Knowledge and experience in Nigerian taxation and all statutory reporting requirements is essential.

o Must be versatile in International Financial Reporting Standards in the context of oil and gas industry.

o Knowledge of information systems implementation methodologies, governance and control will be an added advantage.

o Excellent communication skills are required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, encourage open communication and listen effectively.

o Ability to research and propose resolutions on complex accounting issues.

o Must excel in oral and written English language.

o Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, challenge and drive.

o Fair, pleasant cheerful and follows businesslike procedures and policies to accomplish results.

o Intermediate to strong Excel skills required.
