Job Description

The Graphic/Web Designer, under the supervision of the strategic Communication Manager, will be responsible for designing, production and maintaining  various organizational websites and contributing to the overall web communications strategy and special projects. She/he will develop visual concepts and designs that reflect business and creative requirements.

Web Designing Responsibilities

• Create and design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for website.
• Build websites using technologies that conform to international standards and make are sure that they are universally accessible.
• Ensure that the layout of the web content is accessible and logical and recommend improvements if necessary.
• Add new functionalities, upgrades, debugging and enhancements for web applications.
• Participate in the preparation of system requirements and design specifications for web-enabled solution.
• Perform maintenance and updates to existing website.
• Provide training on maintenance and update procedures on web content management.
• Contribute to the overall development of the web communication strategy of the organization.
• Design/create graphics to meet specific promotional needs such as packaging, displays or logos.
• Create visual concepts that match the content and image that fit into the organization’s image.
• Determine the size and arrangement of illustrative material and select the style and size.
• Study illustration and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products and services.
• Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations and other artwork using the computer.
• Develop negative and prints to provide layout photographs, using negative and print developing equipment and tools.
• Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.

Minimum Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, publishing or other discipline related to the primary responsibilities.
• Minimum of 5 years experience (possession of a master degree will be considered) with 2 years experience in web design.
• Minimum of one year experience in producing standards-compliant cross browser websites using Adobe CS4 Web Premium software suite.
• Experience working in a communications/public relation s environment, particularly in an NGO setting will be an advantage.
